Debby Morey

Senior Vice President, Enterprise Operations

Debby Morey serves as senior vice president for enterprise operations providing strategic leadership for administrative and operational functions that support the university’s academic, research, and institutional missions. She oversees Human Resources, Administrative Offices, and Business Operations, including Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics and Compliance, the Emory Police Department, Critical Event Preparedness and Response, Procurement and Support Services, Business Services, Auxiliary Services, and the Service Center. Through collaboration across the institution, Morey advances enterprise-wide strategies that strengthen organizational effectiveness, operational resilience, and service delivery.

Reporting to the president, Morey works collaboratively with university and health care leaders, trustees, senior administrators, and academic stakeholders to align people, resources, operations, and risk management strategies with Emory’s strategic priorities. Through her leadership, she drives initiatives that strengthen institutional performance, enhance operational effectiveness, and promote a culture of service, accountability, and innovation across the enterprise.

Before joining Emory in 2018, Morey spent seventeen years at Georgetown University, assuming leadership roles of increasing scope and responsibility. Most recently, she was chief business officer for university services, where she led a diverse portfolio of administrative and business functions. Earlier positions included associate athletics director for business and finance and senior woman administrator for Georgetown Athletics, as well as director of business operations for Georgetown University Law Center. Recognized for her ability to lead complex institutional initiatives, she was selected to provide financial leadership and strategic support for special projects, including the launch of the new Big East Conference. She began her career in higher education as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Southern Maryland while working in private industry.

Morey holds a dual global executive MBA from Georgetown University and ESADE Ramon Llull University in Spain, a master of science degree in financial management from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor of business administration degree from Georgia Southern University.
