Del King

Vice President of Human Resources

Del King serves as a vice president for human resources. In his role, he oversees recruiting, employee relations, the faculty-staff assistance program, and learning and organizational development. King has spent his years at Emory working with schools and divisions in the development, implementation, and management of human resources programs and processes. He has led a wide range of projects and programs, with a particular emphasis on quality employee development programs, in order to enhance the organizational climate of the University.

King joined Emory in 1997, as Director of Recruitment, where he provided strategic leadership for University recruitment activities,  including staff recruitment and management of Emory Temporary Services. Since that time, under King’s leadership, Learning and Organizational Development has initiated a comprehensive leadership development program to identify, engage, develop and “career track” high potential employees. These efforts have earned Emory a number of accolades, including the LEAD Award for Innovation in Deployment of Leadership Programs. For the past nine years, Emory has also received the LearningElite award presented by the Chief Learning Officer Magazine, which honors the best organizations for learning and development.  Such initiatives have contributed to faculty and staff excellence at Emory, strengthening leadership development, staff retention, and employee loyalty across the institution.

Prior to Emory, King worked for IBM Corporation and Georgia-Pacific in a variety of Human Resources Management positions.

King holds a BS in Business Administration from South Carolina State University and a M.S. in Organizational Development from Brenau University.

Theresa Milazzo

Vice President of Human Resources

Theresa Milazzo serves as a vice president for human resources. She works with the human resources leadership team to guide human resources strategy, practices, functions, and policy toward the goal of workplace excellence and organizational effectiveness. In her role, she oversees staff and executive compensation, employee benefits, HR technology and data services, wellness and health management, and the Work Life Resource center. In addition to her HR functional role, she has provided leadership for initiatives, such as Healthy Emory, Tobacco Free Emory, the Retirement Transition program, Class and Labor Staff Study, and has been actively engaged with campus committees focused on fringe benefits, technology, retirement, faculty data, work/life matters, women’s issues, and diversity. Her efforts have earned the university the WorldatWork Seal of Distinction for six consecutive years, honoring Emory’s strength in total rewards and success in creating positive work environments.

Prior to joining Emory, Milazzo was a consultant with several major human resources consulting firms, specializing in executive and employee compensation. In this role she worked with companies in a wide array of industries, from healthcare to public utilities to manufacturing. As a consultant, her work involved both small scale design projects and large scale projects involving significant change management initiatives.

Milazzo earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences from Rice University and an MBA in decision sciences from the University of Florida. She is currently a part-time student in the Master of Religion and Public Life degree program at the Candler School of Theology at Emory.
