William M. Dracos

Associate Vice President and Chief Business Practice Improvement Officer

Bill Dracos is the associate vice president and chief business practice improvement officer for Emory University. This function in the university addresses suboptimal business practices and engages stakeholders in collaborative work to develop improvements to business operations and functions. Business Practice Improvement (BPI) seeks to add value to people, schools, units, and processes in support of Emory’s mission and goals.

The chief BPI officer and team seek accountable partnerships with Emory functional vice presidents, deans, chairs, school/unit chief business officers, faculty, and staff to improve, develop, and measure results of work undertaken in all areas of the university. Project foci involve key business functions, such as financial management and research administration.

Dracos came to Emory in December 2010 from PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) Higher Education and Health Sciences Practice, where he served since 1999. As a director at PwC, he was responsible for leading multifaceted projects involving strategic business and financial planning, operational improvement, business portfolio management, new venture creation, and business analytics. Prior to PwC, Dracos directed the premedical programs at the corporate offices of Kaplan Educational Centers after working for Parexel and the Advisory Board Company.

He holds an undergraduate degree in biology from Duke University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke.
