Mathew Pinson serves as assistant vice president for operations and strategic initiatives within the Office of the Executive Vice President for Business and Administration (EVPBA). In this role, Mathew provides leadership in the area of university operations for the Office of the EVPBA, with a particular focus on advancing initiatives, priorities, and objectives in coordination with Vice Presidents and Chiefs of function.

Mathew initially joined Emory in October of 2007 and held a variety of roles until June 2021, including Director of Development at Candler School of Theology, Associate Dean of Development and Alumni Relations at Candler School of Theology, and Assistant Vice President and Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement for the university. He is a graduate of Emory’s Excellence Through Leadership (ETL) program. Most recently, Mathew served as the President and CEO of a nonprofit based in the Metro Atlanta area—returning to Emory in the summer of 2023.  

In addition to his work at Emory, Mathew serves on the Board of Directors of Wespath Benefits and Investments. In operation since 1908, Wespath and its subsidiaries maintain one of the largest reporting faith-based pension funds in the world and manages over $24 billion in assets. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Tennessee Wesleyan University.
